Recently launched service is now available to help people to get assistance if their health is being afflicted due to cold park homes; it was launched right after GBP 224,000 had been awarded by Department of Health to Devon. Being able to display both ‘Warm and Well’ in Devon is something that is a practical solution to those who are vulnerable and the elderly to be able to deal with the problems and issues that effects of winter. This support does include advice and also help with insulation aspects and heating, any benefits advice and also with helping to change any energy suppliers. Help will also be on hand for any repairs or emergency requirements that emerge as the winter sets in and it grows cold. The people who will need this service most will be identified chiefly through any local health and social care teams and any voluntary organizations that are local in or across Devon. This help will be available for the elderly who are frail, or that do have health conditions that are long term or do live on their own in park homes. Those older people that dwell in homes that are hard to heat such as park homes are will also be eligible to get the help and advice they require. Cabinet member and councillor, Stuart Barker, overlooking the project relayed: “There are many elderly people in Devon who are living in park homes that are not easy to heat. We are looking to make a difference for them with these interventions that are low cost. Some of these interventions include using thermal curtains and draft proofing the house. Launching this project helps us to not only improve energy saving in park homes for those older people who live on lower incomes.”
