Protests carried out against the Doncaster park home project

A Doncaster councillor is calling for a 'grownup debate' concerning the very controversial plans about building a park homes in Doncaster, the developer Dantom Homes would like to put 150 brand new park homes on a woodland area that is not far from Quarry Park. Quarry Park is between Dunscroft and Dunsville. There have been numerous leaflets being circulated about regarding this village by the developer, which outlines all the plans. The residents that are not that far from the site are launching their own protest to this in the form of online petitions. These online petitions do openly go against the scheme, giving a warning that it would contain damaging amounts of traffic and have no where for children to play. Residents also stated that it would be detrimental to the nature that exists in the area too. They have raised their fears that as many as up to 1,300 park homes could be built in the next twenty years. Dantom Homes is trying to consult at the moment and reveals that the land was once used as a dumping ground. Pat Knight, who is the ward councillor, did wade into the row. She has stated that Quarry Park is not in any danger or under any threat, since this park housing scheme is located on a field not far from the park. “The park homes scheme will be on land that was privately owned for close to forty years,” she did add as a note to help smooth the situation over. Pat Knight continued: “I am a friend of Quarry Park, and like many residents I take my dogs for walks and have done it for many years. I've also helped to raise money to get facilities improved at this park home site.”
